Weight Loss with Fasting Mimicking Diet and Laser

As a certified Laser Practitioner I am amazed every day to find new challenges that Laser Therapy can help with. A common challenge in our society is weight loss.

There is no one method that works for most people, if there were, we would all be using it. This leads to more and more clinics using a combination of techniques to guarantee success. Our weight loss plan is an entire system that not only helps people lose weight but also improves their health in many important ways.

Step one involves patients undergoing a 5-day Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD) meal plan designed by Prolon. This is a scientifically designed meal plan designed to trick your body into thinking it is fasting when you are in fact eating. It is a calorie restricted plan but has the nutrients you need to be successful. Studies show reductions in the following: IGF-1 (cell DNA damage marker), CRP (inflammation marker), weight, abdominal fat, waist circumference, blood pressure, and cholesterol. Patients are encouraged to get advanced laboratory testing (through Cleveland Heart Lab performed in our clinic) before starting the program and then again at the end to see their improvements in these biomarkers.

After the FMD, patients are asked to follow a diet of their choice from the following: Ketogenic, Paleo, Whole30, raw food diet, whole food plant based, Mediterranean and/or intermittent fasting (16:8) for 3-4 weeks. This is followed by another FMD. To maintain the patient’s results, I recommend long term continuation of the Mediterranean, Whole Food Plant Based or intermittent fasting diet. Patients are also encouraged to work with a certified nutritionist and/or personal trainer at our center.

Laser is performed a total of 10 times throughout this 4-6 week plan. A ‘belt’ of 86 low powered class III laser diodes is worn for 30 minutes as they relax on a far-infrared mat. The laser treatments are designed to open pores in the fat cells to allow water, glycerol and fatty acids to escape into the lymph circulation. This leads to a reduction in the size of fat cells with no side effects.
